THE Illawarra Academy of Sport's newly inducted Sydney Water Swimming Squad was presented at South Coast and Tablelands Winter Championships at the Kiama Leisure Centre last weekend.
SCAT president Faye Rolls and academy executive director Mark Brogan presented the scholarship holders to spectators, parents and competitors at the meet. Also in attendance was academy head coach Ron McKeon and squad coaches Bryan Walker and Jason Batson.
Wollongong swimmer Josh Minogue received special mention for his recent achievements, which include outstanding results at the Australian Age Championships and selection in the NSW Swimming Target 2004 squad.
Minogue, in his third year with the academy, won last year's academy swimmer of the year and was the recipient of the highly commended Tobin Award.
The squad of 19 represents the Illawarra's most promising young swimmers.
To receive entry into the academy program swimmers must have qualified and swum at the Australian Age Championships in Brisbane earlier this year.
