At 25 Jacqui McIntyre is one of the youngest South Coast and Tablelands Show secretaries.

Ms McIntyre has managed to successfully juggle the demands of a position usually reserved for those who have retired from the full-time work force - due to the demanding nature of the job.

The 25-year-old, who works full-time and has spent the past year organising the finer details of the Campbelltown Show, was happy to sacrifice her social life and weekends to prepare for the biggest community event in Campbelltown.

After all it is second nature - her parents have been an integral part of the Campbelltown Show Society and for as long as Ms McIntyre can remember she has been involved in show committee meetings.

``I used to go to meetings with my parents when I was a child and and curl up on the lounge," she laughed.

``I have been helping out with the horses since I was little and I was previously a horse steward so this position is just more responsibility.

``It is the thrill of putting together such a large event and seeing the final result which makes me do it."

But the main reason the former Miss 1994 Campbelltown Showgirl has taken up the reins was to make sure the show remains an integral part of the Campbelltown community for young and old alike.

An injection of young blood is just what the show society needs to maintain a young audience, she said.

``We are very lucky in that our committee (members) are very young so the entertainment and events cater for everybody," she said.

``We will have spectacular fireworks displays (on Friday and Saturday night) and bands too and things like sheep shearing and the drover's camp are some of the more traditional show events."

The former winner of the prestigious Australasian Showmen's Guild Youth Encouragement Award hasn't had ``a real weekend" since she took on the secretary's job last year.

But this weekend she plans to make the most of the party.
