Heroes To Inspire Youngsters

INTERNATIONAL swimmers like Ian Thorpe and Michael Phelps will provide inspiration for participants in the South Coast and Tablelands winter carnival at Kiama Leisure Centre tomorrow.
Thorpe and Phelps are just two of the elite swimmers who have featured in the sporting spotlight this week with their amazing feats at the world championships in Barcelona, Spain.
So expect plenty of big efforts from the youngsters out to emulate their heroes at the South Coast and Tablelands Swimming Association (SCATSA) carnival which has attracted 1350 entries from 270 swimmers from clubs in this region. Racing will start at 9am with the 2003-04 Illawarra Academy of Sport swimming squad presented to the crowd about 10am.
The team is Britany Sharkey (Kiama), Orlanda Sexton (Bowral), Matt Richardson (Corrimal), Brock Creer (Bomaderry), Cameron Reynolds (Bomaderry), Matt Ringland (Bomaderry), Katelyn Baz-Buttel, Simon Dean, Ben Denner, Joel Dufty, Aaron Holdsworth, Allysha Houghton-Smith, Angela Hurley, Robert Hurley, Josh Minogue, David Mitchell, Kate Morgan, Aneke Ray and Nicholas Todd (all Wests Illawarra).
