Minogue Sets Pace At Championships

WEST Illawarra Aquatic Club teenager Joshua Minogue was the stand-out swimmer at the South Coast and Tablelands Swimming Championships at Dapto Heated Pool last weekend.

Minogue won eight gold medals and set new district records in five events - the 15 years/over 50m freestyle, 50m butterfly, 100m butterfly, 400m freestyle and the open 200m butterfly.

Outstanding female swimmer honours were shared by Alexandra Sinodinavic (West Illawarra Aquatic), 8, and 15-year-old Amy White (Bomaderry Swimming Club).

Sinodinavic won seven gold medals, setting new records for the U8 50m freestyle, 50m breast stroke and 50m butterfly.

Competing in 15/over and open events, White won eight gold, three silver and two bronze medals.

Ryan Hanson (Dapto SC), 14, also had an outstanding meet, winning six gold and three silver medals, setting a new district record in the 13/14 years 50m freestyle.

Meantime, Kiama coach Bryan Walker has been appointed assistant coach to the Australian Youth Team at the upcoming Youth Olympics.
